as well as 是表示「以及、還有、也」的連接片語，它的語意重心落在前面的 A，後面的 B 只是附加補充，因此 A as well as B 的動詞要跟前面的主詞 A 一致，而不是像 and 那樣讓主詞變複數。很多台灣學生把 as well as 讀成單純的「和」，結果在學測、多益的主詞動詞一致題上失分，這正是它和 and 最關鍵的差別。另外要特別分清楚的是 as well as 和 as well：前者是放在句中連接兩個成分的連接片語，後者是放在句尾、意思等於「也」的副詞片語，一字之差，詞性和位置完全不同。

I. as well as 是什麼意思？

as well as 的意思是「以及、還有、也」，用來在句中補充另一項資訊。和 and「兩邊平等」不同，as well as 把語意重心放在前面的 A，後面的 B 只是附加補充。因此 She teaches math as well as physics.（她教數學，也教物理。） 這句話的主角是「數學」，物理只是補充說明。你可以把它的中文語感想成「A，連同 B 一起」——A 才是句子真正在講的對象。例子：

• She speaks French as well as English.（她會說英文，也會說法文。）

• The manager, as well as her team members, is responsible for this project.（經理連同她的團隊成員，都對這個專案負責。）

雖然中文翻成「也」，但句子的重心其實是後面被當成 A 的那一項，理解重心在哪一邊，之後判斷動詞單複數就不會出錯。

其實 as well as 還有一個常被忽略的用法：在 do as well as 這種結構裡，它表示比較，意思是「做得一樣好」，例如：

• He did as well as his brother.（他表現得跟他哥哥一樣好。）

• She plays the piano as well as a professional musician.（她彈鋼琴彈得跟專業音樂家一樣好。）

這個比較義和連接義完全不同，後面會在常見錯誤的段落再展開。

II. as well as 的用法規則

as well as 在多數情況下被視為「準對等連接詞」，它要求前後成分「詞性對等」——名詞配名詞、動作配動作；但它「不像 and 那樣讓主詞變成複數」。這個雙重特性，正是台灣學生最常踩雷的根源：對等的是「詞性」，不對等的是「動詞」。後面接名詞時，as well as 也可以看成介係詞片語，意思接近 besides。抓住「對等詞性、但動詞跟前面 A」這個原則，下面三條規則就會變得很直覺。

1. 連接名詞／名詞片語

as well as 連接的兩個成分必須詞性相同：名詞接名詞、形容詞接形容詞。這是最基本的用法，只要前後詞性對齊就不會錯。

很多人只記得 as well as 可以接名詞，卻忘了形容詞也適用同一條對等原則。記住這個「詞性要對齊」的概念，因為它同時是下面連接動作（II.2）和連接主詞（II.3）的共同前提。

2. 連接動作：用動名詞（V-ing）

as well as 連接兩個動作時，後面的英文動詞要改成 V-ing 動名詞，不能用 to V，也不能用原形動詞。原因還是「對等」：前面的動作長什麼樣，後面就要跟著一樣。

• ❌ She likes reading as well as to write. → ✅ She likes reading as well as writing.（她喜歡閱讀，也喜歡寫作。）前面用了動名詞 reading，後面的對等成分自然也要用 writing，而不是 to write 或 write。

• ❌ He enjoys swimming as well as to play basketball. → ✅ He enjoys swimming as well as playing basketball.（他喜歡游泳，也喜歡打籃球。）因為前半句在動詞 enjoys 後面接的是動名詞 swimming，為了保持結構對等，as well as 後面自然也要跟著使用動名詞 playing，不能用 to play 或原形動詞 play。

逗號規則： 當 as well as 引導的是「插入補充」、夾在主詞和動詞之間時，前後常加英文逗號，例如 The manager, as well as his assistants, is here.；但如果它只是緊接著對等成分、句意連貫，就可以不加逗號，例如 He plays guitar as well as piano.。簡單判斷：把它當插入語讀（停頓一下）就加逗號，當連接成分讀就不加。

3. 連接兩個主詞：動詞單複數規則（A as well as B）

在 A as well as B 的句型裡，英文動詞要跟前面的英文主詞 A 一致；後面的 B 只是補充說明，不會改變動詞的單複數。

• ❌ The teacher as well as the students are here. → ✅ The teacher, as well as the students, is here.（老師，連同學生，都在這裡。） 

• ❌ The fruits, as well as the meat, is fresh. → ✅ The fruits, as well as the meat, are fresh.（這些水果連同肉類都很新鮮。）

在上面這組例句中，文法動詞的單複數完全由前面的主詞 A 決定。 在第一個例句中，主詞 A 是單數的 the teacher，所以動詞用 is；後面的 the students 雖然是複數，但它只是被 as well as 帶進來的補充插入語，不影響動詞。 在第二個例句中，主詞 A 是複數的 The fruits，所以動詞用 are；後面的 the meat 雖然是單數，同樣不影響動詞。 簡言之，不管後面的 B 是單數還是複數，我們「只看 A，不看 B」。 

這條只是「規則本身」。為什麼它和 and 不一樣、考試時又怎麼會錯，分別交給下一段（III）和常見錯誤（VI.1）處理。

III. as well as 和 and 有什麼不同？

as well as 和 and 有三層差別：語意重心（as well as 偏重前面的 A，and 兩邊平等）、動詞單複數（A as well as B 的動詞跟 A，A and B 則用複數）、以及正式度（as well as 較常用於書面與正式語境）。例如 Tom as well as Jerry is invited. 用單數動詞 is，而 Tom and Jerry are invited. 用複數 are。

用同一組人名跑過三層差別，差異就一目了然：Tom as well as Jerry is invited.（重心在 Tom，動詞用 is） 對上 Tom and Jerry are invited.（兩人平等相加，動詞用 are）。前者強調受邀的主要是 Tom，Jerry 是附帶；後者則是兩個人一起被邀請，沒有主次之分。

老實說，在語體風格上也有差別：as well as 比較常出現在論文、正式郵件或考試作文裡；日常口語要表達「和」，多數人還是直接用 and。所以選 and 還是 as well as，關鍵就看你要不要特別強調前面的 A。

IV. as well as 和 as well 的差別

as well 是英文副詞片語，意思是「也」，放在句尾；as well as 是連接片語，放在句中連接兩個成分。兩者只差一個字，但詞性和位置完全不同，用錯位置整句就會卡住。直接對照最清楚：

• 句尾「也」用 as well：I like coffee. I like tea as well.（我喜歡咖啡，也喜歡茶。）

• 句中連接用 as well as：I like coffee as well as tea.（我喜歡咖啡，還有茶。）

那 as well 和 also、too 又差在哪？三者意思相近，差別在位置。also 多放在句中（助動詞之後、實義動詞之前），例如 She also speaks Japanese.；too 和 as well 都放在句尾，但 too 更口語一點，例如 She speaks Japanese too. 或 She speaks Japanese as well.。

你知道嗎？很多人會想把 as well 搬到句首當「此外」用，這在標準英文裡一般不行；要在句首補充，請改用 In addition 或 Besides。

V. as well as 的同義詞與替換用法

as well as 的英文同義詞看起來可以互換，但真正的差別在三點：語氣強弱（not only…but also 最強）、動詞單複數（along with、together with 跟 as well as 一樣不影響動詞，只有 and 會），以及後面接什麼（besides、in addition to 是介係詞片語，只能接名詞或動名詞）。換句話說，選哪一個不是隨意，而是看你「要不要強調」和「動詞要跟誰」。下面三組分別說明，最後在 V.3 用一張總表把五個片語一次比較清楚。

1. besides／in addition to（補充「除了…還有」）

besides 和 in addition to 都是英文介係詞片語，後面接名詞或 V-ing，意思是「除了…還有」。它們和 as well as 最大的不同，是常常可以放在句首做補充。

• In addition to English, she speaks Japanese.（除了英文，她還會日文。）

• Besides studying, he works part-time.（除了讀書，他還打工。）

注意 in addition to 後面如果接動作，一樣要用 V-ing（studying，不是 to study），這點和 as well as 連接動作的規則一致。

2. not only…but also（強調「不僅…而且」）

not only…but also 的語氣比 as well as 更強，強調「兩者都成立」；它的動詞通常跟 but also 後面的主詞（就近一致），這和 as well as 永遠跟前面 A 的規則不同。

• Not only the students but also the teacher is tired.（不只學生，連老師也累了。）

• Not only the design but also the colors are attractive.（不只這個設計，連顏色都很吸引人。）

💡 文法重點解析： 在這組例句中，動詞的單複數完全由最靠近的主詞（即 but also 後面的 B）來決定： 第一句靠近動詞的是單數的 the teacher，所以動詞用 is。 第二句靠近動詞的是複數的 the colors，所以動詞用 are。 簡單記住：as well as 看前面（跟 A 一致），not only…but also 看後面（就近一致）。 

3. along with／together with（伴隨，含總比較表）

along with 和 together with 表示「伴隨」，和 as well as 一樣不影響動詞單複數——動詞照樣跟前面的主詞。例如：

• The manager, along with his team, is attending.（經理，連同他的團隊，都會出席。），動詞用 is，跟的是 the manager。

• The documents, together with the laptop, are missing.（這些文件連同筆電都不見了。）這句的主詞 A 是 The documents（複數），後面的 the laptop（單數） 只是伴隨說明的插入語。因為動詞必須跟前面的 A 一致，所以要用複數動詞 are。

把這五個片語放進同一張表，差別一眼看清：

讀這張表只要抓兩個問題：第一，你要不要強調前面的 A？第二，動詞要不要變複數？答案出來，該選哪個片語也就清楚了。

VI. as well as 常見錯誤與修正

台灣學生用 as well as 的三大錯誤——動詞變複數、忘記改 V-ing、和 as well 搞混——根源其實是同一個：把 as well as 當成 and 在處理。只要記住「as well as 偏重 A、不對等動詞」，這三個錯就能一次防住。下面逐一拆解。

1. 把 as well as 當 and，動詞誤用複數 → ❌ My sister as well as my parents are coming. ✅ My sister as well as my parents is coming.（我姊姊，連同我父母，都要來。）原因診斷： 會用 are，是因為把 as well as 看成了 and，覺得「姊姊＋父母」是好幾個人所以要用複數。但其實文法主詞只有前面的 my sister（單數），my parents 是 as well as 帶進來的補充，不算進動詞。一秒檢查法： 把 as well as B 用逗號框起來，當成插入語暫時遮住——My sister (as well as my parents) is coming.——只看 A 就能決定動詞。這招在考場上特別好用。

2. 後面動作忘記改成 V-ing → ❌ He enjoys swimming as well as to run. ✅ He enjoys swimming as well as running.（他喜歡游泳，也喜歡跑步。）原因診斷： 前面的動作是動名詞 swimming，根據對等原則，as well as 後面的對等成分也要是 V-ing，所以是 running，不是 to run 也不是 run。記法： 看 as well as 前面那個動詞長什麼樣，後面就跟著長一樣。前面 V-ing，後面就 V-ing。

3. 混淆 as well as 與 as well（位置與詞性）→ ❌ I like tea as well as. ／ ❌ I like coffee as well tea. ✅ 句中連接用 as well as：I like coffee as well as tea. ✅ 句尾表「也」用 as well：I like tea as well.（我也喜歡茶。）原因診斷： as well as 是連接片語，後面一定要接東西，不能單獨放句尾；as well 是副詞片語，放句尾表「也」，中間不能再硬塞名詞。位置和詞性錯置，句子就不成立。小提醒： do as well as 還有另一個「比較」的意思，表示「做得一樣好」，例如 She did as well as the others.（她表現得跟其他人一樣好。）。這裡的 as well as 是比較，不是連接，看到 do／perform 這類動詞時要特別留意。
