Well, I’ve learnt English for more than a decade, and I’ve been given countless opportunities to attend numerous intriguing classes and meet various committed teachers. However, if I had to pick the most unforgettable lesson, it would be the one about active listening, which was delivered by Jim, my native Speaking teacher 3 years ago. 

With respect to my beloved mentor, he is extremely considerate and dedicated. In each and every 3-hour lesson, hardly does he sit down to relax for more than a minute because he is way too busy delivering his lecture and motivating his students. 

In terms of the lesson’s content, Jim guided us on how to practice that kind of listening skill to improve our pronunciation. He explained that when we truly respected the speaker, paid close attention to them and reflected on what they were saying, we could train our brain to learn from their positive features and identify their pronunciation errors, and when we were able to do so, we were less likely to make the same mistakes. 

Regarding the reasons why I loved this lesson that much, I’d say the most outstanding one was that it was such a novel method that no one had told me before, but it turned out to be super effective. Since I practised this technique, I’ve been able to fix almost all pronunciation errors myself. Had it not been for Jim and his miraculous strategy, my pronunciation would never become more accurate, natural and nativelike.
