The bar chart illustrates how the share of renewable power among total power production changed across various countries in three given years. Overall, the percentages of renewable energy in Sweden and Iceland grew over time, whereas the opposite happened in Australia and Turkey. In addition, Iceland possessed the highest figure in all years.

In 1997, sustainable energy accounted for 45% of Iceland’s energy supply, which was followed by the level for Turkey, with 37%. The data of Australia and Sweden, meanwhile, did not exceed 10%. Three years later, while the figure for Australia decreased slightly to about 7%, those for the remaining countries rose. Over half of Iceland’s aggregate energy production was renewable in 2000, whereas the data of Turkey was around two-thirds of that, with 40%, and Sweden’s level was the same as Australia’s.

In 2010, the share of sustainable power in Iceland remained on top, with another increase to nearly 70%. This continued to be followed by the figure for Turkey, but this country’s proportion of renewable energy had decreased by a half to about 20%. Finally, while the level for Sweden rose negligibly to 8%, that for Australia declined further to 5%.
