The pie charts below show the percentage of students at one adult education centre taking various courses offered in 1985 and this year.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The pie charts provide a breakdown on the distribution of students across various courses at an adult education center in 1985 and the present day. Overall, it can be seen that modern languages and IT were, respectively, the most attended classes in 1985 and today. Meanwhile, two courses in 1985 no longer take place, having been replaced by a new course in IT.

In 1985, the most popular program was modern languages, which included French, German and Spanish, accounting for nearly a quarter of all students. Fitness and dance were slightly less popular, with 22%, whereas courses about arts, local history and cookery were close in terms of student share, with 17%, 15% and 14%, respectively. Meanwhile, there were the fewest students taking music appreciation classes, with 8%.

Today, IT, which is the new course, has become the most popular, being studied by over a quarter of all attendees. The level for fitness and dance did not change after 1985, which stays at 22% and remains as the second-highest figure. The share of cookery students has grown to 19%, which is around two-thirds that of the most popular course. Finally, the two least attended classes were modern languages and arts, whose levels witnessed a decline after 1985.
