I. Not until ในภาษาอังกฤษคืออะไร

แล้ว "Not until" คืออะไร "Not until" นั้นมักถูกใช้ร่วมกับคำหรือวลีที่แสดงเวลาเพื่อเน้นจุดเวลาที่การกระทำในประโยคต่อไปจะเกิดขึ้น หรือแปลเป็นภาษาไทยคือ “ไม่…จนกระทั่ง” ตัวอย่างเช่น:

II. การใช้ Not until ในภาษาอังกฤษ

กฎด้านล่างนี้คือแนวทางที่จะช่วยให้คุณเข้าใจคำว่า Not until ในภาษาอังกฤษ ในประโยค inverted sentence และประโยค cleft sentence:

1. Inverted sentences (ประโยคย้อนกลับ)

คำว่า "Not until" ในประโยคย้อนกลับนั้นมักจะถูกใช้เพื่อเน้นใจความของประโยคหลัก โดยมีโครงสร้างดังต่อไปนี้:

III. Only When – โครงสร้างที่เทียบได้กับ Not until ในภาษาอังกฤษ

หมายเหตุ: หลังคำว่า "Not until" สามารถเป็นคำที่แสดงเวลา/อนุประโยค/วลี แต่สำหรับโครงสร้าง "Only when" นั้นจำเป็นต้องเป็นอนุประโยคเท่านั้น

IV. เขียนประโยคใหม่ด้วย Not until & Only when

จากตัวอย่างในด้านล่างนี้ โครงสร้างบางอย่างเป็นโครงสร้างสำหรับเขียนประโยคใหม่ที่รวม "Not until" และเปรียบเทียบ "Not until" กับ "Only when" โดยผู้เรียนสามารถใช้โครงสร้างเหล่านี้เพื่อเขียนประโยคใหม่ที่แตกต่างกันได้อย่างถูกต้อง!

1. Not until

โครงสร้าง:

S + (not V) + O + until + คำแสดงเวลา/อนุประโยค/วลี

➞ It is/was + not until + คำแสดงเวลา/อนุประโยค/วลี + that + S + (V).

➞ Not until + คำแสดงเวลา/อนุประโยค/วลี + auxiliary + S + (V).

ตัวอย่างเช่น:

• She did not understand the complexity of the assignment until the night before it was due. (เธอไม่เข้าใจความซับซ้อนของงานจนถึงคืนก่อนที่มันจะครบกำหนด)

➞ It was not until the night before the assignment was due that she understood the complexity of it.

➞ Not until the night before the assignment was due did she understand the complexity of it.

• They didn’t realize the importance of saving money until they encountered unexpected financial difficulties. (พวกเขาไม่รู้ความสำคัญของการออมเงินจนกระทั่งเจอปัญหาทางการเงินที่ไม่คาดคิด)

➞ It wasn’t until they encountered unexpected financial difficulties that they realized the importance of saving money.

➞ Not until they encountered unexpected financial difficulties did they realize the importance of saving money.

2. Not until & Only when

โครงสร้าง:

S + V (ปฏิเสธ) + O + until + time.

➞ Only when + clause + auxiliary verb + S + V.

ตัวอย่างเช่น:

• He didn’t appreciate his parents’ advice until he faced the consequences of his actions. (เขาไม่เห็นคุณค่าของคำแนะนำของพ่อแม่จนกระทั่งเขาเผชิญกับผลกระทบจากการกระทำของตัวเอง) 

➞ Only when he faced the consequences of his actions did he appreciate his parents’ advice.

• She didn’t leave her house until she felt better. (เธอไม่ออกจากบ้านจนกว่าเธอจะรู้สึกดีขึ้น)

➞ Only when she felt better did she leave her house.
