I. Structure of TOEIC Part 6

Part 6 contains 16 multiple-choice questions, divided into 4 passages. Each passage consists of 4 questions:

  • 3 questions related to vocabulary and grammar

  • 1 question requiring the insertion of a suitable sentence

In Part 6, you need to fill in the blanks within a passage. Each blank is followed by four answer choices (A), (B), (C), and (D). Your task is to choose the correct option and mark it on the answer sheet.

Here’s a breakdown of the question types:

  • Grammar-focused questions: 20% (mainly verb tenses)

  • Vocabulary-focused questions: 55% (primarily word forms—verbs, nouns, adjectives, and adverbs—as well as word meanings)

  • Sentence insertion questions: Newly added to the revised format, requiring candidates to insert a sentence into the passage

  • Common passage types in Part 6: announcements, letters, emails, advertisements, and notices.

With the new exam format, TOEIC Part 6 vocabulary questions are highly diverse. To succeed, you need to build a strong vocabulary foundation and practice regularly.
