She gave it to me because I didn’t have a good jacket for winter. I really needed one, but I didn’t say anything to her. That’s why I felt very happy — she thought about me.

One clothing item that I received — and truly cherish — is a traditional Vietnamese áo dài that my grandmother gave to me. She offered it as a gift when I graduated from high school, and it holds great emotional value, not just because of the occasion but also because of who it came from.

However, during formal events or festivals, they still wear traditional clothing like áo dài, which shows a nice balance between modern and cultural values.

Question 3: Why do some people prefer to receive useful gifts rather than expensive ones?

I think practicality often outweighs price for many people. A useful gift, like a warm coat or a daily-use bag, is something the person will truly appreciate and use regularly. It shows thoughtfulness and understanding. An expensive gift may feel impressive at first, but if it doesn’t fit someone’s needs, it can come off as impersonal or unnecessary.
