With regard to the future of a country, some have opined that investing in the youth of a nation is essential for its long-term success and sustainability. I agree with this wholeheartedly, and in fact, spending on the youth is the optimal way any nation can make for its future. Furthermore, this essay will elaborate on how resources for this purpose are best spent.
There is evidence to support the importance of investing in the young generation. Initially, doing so can create a more educated and skilled workforce, potentially leading to increased economic growth and development. Scandinavian countries, for example, are known for being extremely prosperous, and part of their success can be attributed to the well-funded public education system which teaches their youth. Additionally, showing a willingness to stake the young generation may help sustain population growth. Such a gesture from a country might signal to parents that they are in a beneficial position to have children; therefore, the nation’s demographics and labor force can be secure.
There are various ways to invest resources in a country’s youth, but in my opinion, the optimal focus is one on education and skills development. In education, funding for schools’ facilities may be the key. By benefiting from state endowment, a university, for example, can provide better quality teaching, increasing the chance of its graduates turning out successful. Meanwhile, countries can fund young people’s comprehensive development by incentivizing scientific researchers and intellectuals, who the youth look up to as thought leaders, to continue their work. In a way, this ensures that teenagers and adolescents can associate success with diligence and skill, granting them motivation to learn and hone their various abilities.
In conclusion, spending for the youth’s sake is crucial for a country’s prosperity and sustainability. The best aspects to focus on while doing so are education and cultivation of skills; if a government is successful in its attempt, the likely result is an overall improvement in the quality of life for all, and not just the young themselves.
