One of the most helpful skills that I’ve had a chance to acquire through university is the skill of making powerpoint slides. And for that I wish to teach others this skill as there are many issues to take into account and I definitely learned it the hard way. 

Well, you know, when I moved on to college, it was seemingly assumed that we have to possess editing skills, or powerpoint skills in particular, beforehand so that we can create such eye-catching slides and therefore making our presentation so much more engaging. However, I didn’t have the faintest idea about how to make a slide, let alone putting a presentation together. But I was lucky enough to have one of my best friends teach me all the know-hows and assist me in mastering such skills. 

First off, I think one of the basics when it comes to making a powerpoint slide is that you have to keep the content succinct. Nobody would want a slide full of texts, right? Another rule is that maybe you should report information statistically by using charts, or tables. In that way, the audience would have a more comprehensive and systematic grasp of what you’re trying to convey. 

If I were to teach others, besides acquainting them with the theory first, I would let them put their knowledge into practice, you know, let them play around first with the slides, explore all the tools and test their capability and finally give some feedback on the product. I think when it comes to powerpoint skill, it both requires logic and taste to make the slides more gripping so practicing and learning from one another is the best method. 

It cannot be denied that this skill might help us go further in life as a lot of recruiters nowadays prefer those that have decent powerpoint skills. I hope that I may have more chances to help those who are struggling with this kind of skill so that they can make a presentation with ease.

1. Do you think computers will one day replace teachers in the classroom?

Absolutely not. Despite recent technical advancements, robots will never be able to replace the role of teachers. To begin with, teaching is surely more than just imparting information. A teacher also acts as a guide, a mentor and an inspirer for students. Computers can’t lead and advise students in the same way as teachers can. Besides, a human teacher may also foster the best learning environment because of the connection they have with their students, which is impossible to do through virtual learning.

2. How can a teacher make lessons for children more interesting?

In my opinion, there are numerous ways to increase students' interest. Firstly, teachers should consider including game-based activities to make the lessons more engrossing. Conducting games such as “Slap the board” and “Bingo” creates a fun classroom environment, making it much more enjoyable, competitive and exciting. Additionally, it is undeniable that using technological elements like videos and slideshows is a great approach to captivate students.

Engaged in the lesson, students will be able to concentrate better, thus increasing the teaching and learning effectiveness.

3. What do you think should change about the way students are taught in your country?

There should, in my opinion, be certain changes done to Vietnam's educational system. The emphasis of today's educational system in my nation is primarily on theoretical information, thus practical knowledge and hands-on experience should be more strongly stressed. For instance, field trips to museums or art galleries will help students learn about culture and history in a more engaging way. Additionally, schools should allow more lessons on essential life skills such as teamwork and communication.
