These days, many people are divided over whether large corporations should pay executives more than they pay ordinary employees. While this pay gap could be seen as a source of inequality, I am inclined to believe that these leaders, who are responsible for overseeing major company decisions, deserve disproportionate compensation.
On the one hand, the difference between the remuneration of CEOs and lower-ranking employees may raise concerns about fairness. According to this thinking, a more just distribution of a company’s wealth, in the form of narrower wage disparity between management and the rank-and-file employees, would foster fairness and unity among all layers of the workforce. That, as a result, would improve overall employee motivation and job satisfaction, thereby raising productivity. Furthermore, cutting executive pay or increasing workers' compensation does not necessarily mean the business will sacrifice profitability or effectiveness. Other elements, such as corporate culture and supplied materials, can impact the quality of the output as well.
However, there are reasons for CEOs and executives to earn significant compensation compared to other workers. Corporate leaders in large firms oversee a gargantuan number of personnel while having to answer to shareholders, responsibilities which require remarkable competencies to take on. As their daily work involves designing strategic plans and handling high-stakes decisions, C-suite executives must display business acumen, leadership, and sometimes even grit. These qualities are not altogether present in everybody, which is why those in possession of them must be duly rewarded. As a consequence of the previous point, offering extraordinary salaries to high-level managers helps organizations stay competitive in attracting capable and quality leadership. Lucrative remuneration packages, for this reason, are seen as a prerequisite for securing top-flight business talents and the corporate growth they drive.
In conclusion, while disparity in the wages of executives and ordinary employees may present concerns, I agree that high-level managers deserve their due compensation, thanks to their responsibility and scarcity. Leadership is a rare and exceptional quality; therefore, its value necessitates disproportionate reward to ensure an organization’s effectiveness.
