The maps illustrate some changes that were made to Liverton docks’ infrastructure from 1980 to the present day. Overall, it can be seen that the most noticeable change was the replacement of transport and logistics-related facilities with the addition of educational, residential, and recreational places.
Specifically, on the northern side of the docks, there were two warehouses in 1980, which were then substituted by new facilities including an education center in the northwest and a kid’s playing area in the northeast. The crane between the old warehouses was removed and replaced by a new building for the Sailing Club. The river at the center of the map was accommodated by many ships; however, after more than 40 years, they were all cleared, and a new ship museum was constructed. In the east of the river, a bridge and a flood barrier were newly added.
Towards the south of the map, more residential areas and services have been introduced after 1980. At present, there is a river walk path running along the river bank. Other significant changes are the removal of the old crane and the conversion of the old warehouse into a new apartment block to the south of the river. A hotel and a parking space were also added, adjacent to the apartments.
