1. Do people like tea and coffee nowadays?

Certainly. In fact, tea and coffee have become increasingly popular among people of all ages, and people can see cafes and tea shops popping up all over the place. What’s more, people are also more cognizant of the health benefits of these beverages, so they have become a part of many people's daily routines.

  • Pop up (v): to appear suddenly or unexpectedly

  • Be cognizant of sth = be aware of sth: to have knowledge or understanding of something; to be conscious or aware of something

  • Beverage (n): a drinkable liquid, especially one other than water, such as tea, coffee, juice, or alcohol

2. Do you prefer to use tea or coffee to serve your guests?

Well, given a choice, I’d go for tea. As a tea person, I have a whole collection of tea that I would love to share with my visitors. I love the variety of flavors and aromas that tea has to offer, not to mention that it can be served hot or cold, depending on the season and the preference of my guests.

  • A tea person (n): a person who enjoys and appreciates tea

  • Flavor (n): the taste of something, especially food or drink

  • Aroma (n): the distinctive, typically pleasant smell associated with something, especially a food or drink

  • Preference (n): a greater liking for one alternative over another or others

3. When was the last time you had a cup of coffee?

To the best of my recollection, it’s been ages since I last drank coffee. At the time, I was in Ho Chi Minh City, visiting some of my Saigonese classmates. Drinking coffee seems more or less a morning ritual here, so there is no doubt that I opted for some coffee. You know, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.

  • To the best of my recollection: if I remember correctly, as far as I can recall

  • A morning ritual (n): a habitual or customary procedure performed in the morning

  • Opt for (v): to choose or select (something)

  • When in Rome, do as the Romans do (idiom): when you are in a foreign place, you should follow the customs and behaviors of the local people

4. Do you usually buy your coffee in a coffee shop?

As I’ve mentioned before, coffee is not really to my liking, so rarely do I buy it for myself at a cafe. However, sometimes, I do buy a cup of latte or cappuccino for my boyfriend in the morning. He usually takes his time to sit and enjoy his coffee while reading or working on his laptop. It's such a great way to help him get started.

  • To one's liking (n): something that is agreeable or pleasing to someone's taste or preferences

  • Take his time: to do something at a leisurely pace, without hurry or rushing
