1. Do you go running a lot?
Honestly, I’m not a sporty person, so actually I’ve avoided almost all types of exercise, including running. However, recently my friends have asked me to join a marathon for fundraising and I agreed, so I’ve taken up running and done it every other day now for three weeks to prepare for that marathon. To my surprise, it is not as torturous as I thought it would.
-
sporty person (n): a person who enjoys and is interested in sports
-
to my surprise (phrase): used to express that something happened in an unexpected way
-
Torturous (adj): extremely difficult, painful, or tiring
2. Where do you usually go running?
There is a park nearby my flat building, and it is my go-to running spot. I like this park because it gives me a sense of serenity whenever I'm there. There is a huge lake in the middle of the park, and it is also surrounded by high-rise buildings, which gives it an astounding view when the night comes down.
-
Go-to (adj): favorite, preferred, or most frequently used
-
a sense of serenity: a feeling of calm and peacefulness
-
Astounding (adj): extremely surprising or impressive
3. What do you think of running as a form of exercise?
There’s no doubt to me that running is a tremendously beneficial way of exercise. First, it doesn't cost much to take it up as you can start running anytime with just a good pair of trainers. Secondly, there are numerous proven health benefits of running including better heart health to name a few.
-
Tremendously (adv): extremely, very much
-
take (sth) up (phrasal verb): to start a new hobby, activity, or habit
