I. What is the Solar System in English?
The Solar System in English is called Solar System /ˈsəʊlə ˈsɪstəm/. The Solar System is composed of a star - the Sun - eight planets, 146 moons, asteroids, comets, space rocks, ice, and some dwarf planets like Pluto. The eight planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Mercury is the closest to the Sun, while Neptune is the farthest.
Planets, dwarf planets, and comets orbit the Sun in an elliptical path. Earth takes one year to orbit around the Sun. Mercury, on the other hand, only takes 88 days to complete one orbit. Pluto, the most famous dwarf planet, takes 248 years to complete one orbit around the Sun.
