Achieving a 940 TOEIC score despite a busy schedule

Thuong Tran, a senior student, aimed to conquer the TOEIC to meet graduation and job application requirements. She decided to choose Prep Edu as her companion on this journey, enjoying a flexible, self-paced approach that fit perfectly with her busy routine.

Flexible learning schedule with Prep Edu

Thuong Tran is currently a senior student at the National Economics University. She began studying for the TOEIC exam with the goal of reaching a score above 800, both to meet her university’s graduation requirement and to gain an advantage when applying for internships and future jobs.

Having never taken a TOEIC course before, Thuong Tran discovered Prep Edu through recommendations from her friends who were already studying there. She shared: “What made me choose to study with Prep Edu was its convenience. I had quite a busy schedule and little time to commute, so learning online was the perfect fit. Plus, the reasonable tuition fee was definitely another big plus for me.”

When taking the entry test of Prep Edu, Thuong Tran scored over 600. However, since she hadn’t used English regularly for nearly two years, she decided to restart from the intermediate course to strengthen her foundation. In the end, her effort truly paid off with an impressive 940 TOEIC score on her very first try.

Achieving high scores through daily practice

Thuong Tran set clear goals and made it a habit to study for 30 minutes to an hour every evening. She started with a video lesson and then completed the accompanying exercises to reinforce what she has learned.

She shared: “What I loved most about Prep Edu was its personalized Study Plan. It broke down my learning journey into clear, manageable steps, so I always knew exactly what to do next. The structured roadmap kept me motivated and made it much easier to stay on track, even on busy days.”

Thuong Tran scored an impressive 495 for Listening skill. For her, the key was to immerse herself in English as much as possible. Thuong Tran shared “I prefer a more engaging way of learning, so I often watched Prep Edu’s lessons while doing exercises and building my vocabulary along the way. In addition to Prep Edu’s materials, I also enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, TED Talks, and YouTube videos by native speakers, which was a fun and natural way to improve my listening skills.”

For Thuong Tran, the most challenging part was Reading, especially part 5, due to her limited vocabulary. Through the lessons at Prep Edu, she gradually expanded her vocabulary and learned how to use words appropriately in context while improving her pronunciation. She shared that simply listening to Prep Edu’s lessons helped her remember most of the new words. By combining that with daily practice and mock tests, she was able to retain them even better. Prep Edu’s curated vocabulary lists also made it easier for her to review and strengthen what she’s learned more effectively.

“Practicing with Prep Edu makes me confident”

Thuong Tran shared that Prep Edu’s practice tests are actually more challenging than the real exam, which helped her feel well-prepared and confident. Her mock test scores usually ranged around 800, with her highest reaching 860. Her favorite part of studying with Prep Edu is the instant and detailed feedback, where every mistake is clearly explained along with practical suggestions and clear guidance on how to improve.

“On the test day, I felt quite relaxed since my study and practice with Prep Edu had already made me familiar with the TOEIC format. For those who are preparing for the exam, my advice is to build your vocabulary as much as possible, stay calm and confident during the test, and follow the lessons and exercises from Prep Edu closely. That’s the key to achieving a great result.”
