The table below shows information about age, average income per person and population below poverty line in three states in the United States.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The table provides a breakdown on several population metrics of three given states in the United States. Overall, Utah’s population is the youngest, whereas Florida’s is the oldest. In addition, the state of California records the highest average income per capita, but also the highest percentage of people living below the poverty line.

Utah witnesses the largest share of the population below 18 years of age, with 28%. This is followed by the level for California, with 17%, and Florida, with 16%. Meanwhile, 23% of Floridians are senior citizens, which is nearly three times the percentage of elderly people in Utah, and twice the figure for California’s.

Regarding average income per person, Californians report the most significant data of $23,000. The level for Florida is closely behind with $22,000, whereas Utah residents witness a much lower income of $17,000. The largest share of people living in poverty is witnessed in California, however, with 16%, while 12% of Floridians belong to this category. Finally, Utah records a mere 9%, which is slightly above half the figure for California.
